I just renewed mine after not having it for about two years; I initially had mine from like 2013-2015, or thereabouts.
To me, it seems like the captchas got increasingly more difficult and more pervasive.
Just anecdotally, it seems like it went from being able to click the "I am not a robot box" and do so for about 3-5 posts in a 24 hour period to now when after 3 posts I would automatically get the complete bullshit captchas where you have to select all street signs or storefronts, you know, the ones where you endlessly have to solve the shit.
Ultimately, having been on here since 2006, I'm fine slipping Hiroshimoot a few bucks to improve my posting experience to, hopefully, keep the site running and get rid of the damn captcha.
P.S., I hate the text based captchas even more, and I know many anons prefer them over the photo based ones
