In a technical sense, Indians are, in fact, Asians, since India is located in the continent of Asia. This was the most important thing that I learned in my "What Is Asia" college course that I took over the Summer. We had multiple tests with this one question and though I failed many, by the end I had figured it out: Indians are Asians.
However, in the non-technical sense when someone refers to Asians, they typically mean East Asian people, not West Asian (a group that the Indian people are part of), so, because language is a vague and imperfect thing, Indians both are Asians and are not Asians.
