if you explained that to someone- they would understand but they would never be a part of that meme
if they drop into the thread and say 'hey, what is that thing?' then they will be mocked and many fingerbox designs will be posted. they person will eventually catch on and having been a part of the meme- they appreciate it more and understand the interactive nature of this place
the lurkers don't participate if you spoon feed them all the answers
you need to let people learn on their own and contribute to be able to really appreciate this place.
i encourage people to make OC as often as i can and i show them how easy it is with a few examples.
