It's not uncommon to have phases like that. It's when it lasts longer than 1-2 years that you should be worrying.
Really, though, I think the problem is that it's too easy to think of a stage of your life as a “transition” to somewhere else. For example school, many people think of their school life as only being a transition phase into college / adulthood / whatever, and therefore don't think of it as being the “real” life instead.
I think that kind of thinking is both really unfortunate and really sad. If you think of a phase of your life as only being a transition into a state in which you will finally have what you want (a loving wife, a family, a house, whatever), then you'll completely ignore all the wonderful things and opportunities that happen to you on the road there, and you might even be actively presenting yourself from accomplishing what you want.
