No. They can still use your data, it just means that you never have to decrypt it. Besides the majority of data breaches have come from misconfigured S3 buckets (or other blob storage), I have very little hope that some company that can't keep an S3 bucket private is going to be competent at keeping their keys secure.

No, it's ridiculously computation intensive for even basic addition operations. And it does not help with the two main kinds of privacy intrusion, which are meta data collection and host based attacks.

What if a scheme like this were to be implemented were encryption and decryption is handled client-side (which implies all keys are also stored on the client-side while server side is used for computation and doesn't store keys at all)?
