i wonder the same thing. anecdotally i took an iq test, Raven's 2 clinical to see how well i'd do. taking multiple times from a random item bank i've gotten a range of scores that fall outside the 95% confidence interval from 126 to 150. Technically i shouldnt be able to do that, right? so i'm not really sure how to interpret that or whether or not I believe in the concept's validity.

It's like taking a physical fitness test. do these tests really say that someone has better physical condition than other? for most situations where it makes sense to talk about fitness, yes. same for intelligence, the number itself does not matter but how you perform in some basic tasks compared to others. that number works very well for most situations where the use of the mind is required. It was meant as a quick messy estimate to gauge if a peasants child might be someone beneficial to invest in for the french state.

What does it actually measure? It measures how well you scored compared to everyone else that where subjected to that very same test.

It’s such a laughable idea. It’s not even remotely true even if you take his “literally” to mean “figuratively” and give him the most benefit of the doubt possible.

Extremely poor wording and hyperbole aside, the point he is trying to convey is wrong. The bible only exists within and only could have been created within the pre-existing framework of western philosophy. It’s not even close to the bedrock of western thought.
