What's the best e-reader for scientific/technical books? I've got a Kindle for regular books but the smaller screen kind of sucks when books have equations or code.

kindles are good for reading in sunlight and reading text. if you want to read stuff with pictures/graphics get a tablet, an old ipad would be pretty good for this.
