It's why all their protagonists also don't have father figures, and have some edgy ass backstory. It's so that the kid's can think that everyone laughing at them are simply underestimating their power.
And then you have this entire audience of adults that make money off of children, via youtube and whatnot, and they enforce the standard even more by trying to pander to the kids interests. Because they know if they don't, they lose their gravy train.
