This whole thing of calling lolicons pedos is relatively decent, never really happened before 2015 and only got speed 2017 up. Range is oldschool enough not to be well know from this sort of people.
Futhermore, the whole pedo hate to levels that are beyond rational is a moral panic born in the US in the 70's as a reaction to the sexual liberation of women, they kinda do that time to time, get some squizofrenic fear of something and never let it go, like the red scares or nazis to this day are people who hate the stuff for whatever reason, is cultural.
Japan since is far away enough doens't get this as much, they understand why is wrong and illegal but also understand that lolicon helps to stop actual crimes so even if they consider immoral they go with it for the good of everyone, there were a lot of attempts on the UN to make it illegal back in the 2000's and most famous mangakas had to do a lot of campaigns explaining why it was a stupid idea, I remember a few like the one Miura did it but I've seen a few others.
