What is it about this guy's work that's bad? His stuff all looks off, but I can't put my finger on why. He takes a lot of work to completion and is apparently a professional.

Personally, I think it’s that his exaggeration when cartooning a lot of the time is highlighting the wrong things or just half assed so it is this uncanny middle ground, but when I looked at his commercial art he also uses black or just desaturated colors in general to shade and it is sort of pillow shaded which makes it look dirty. Are you planning to get into caricature art?

Why's his art look like mip?

If he developed his style based off those Raskin-Bass cartoons he's got too close of an interpretation.

I get it, I get his style, his art is good, that much I can recognize.
I just hate this type of style every time I see it, and it's so fucking saturated in the market that you can't avoid it.

went to his youtube, and it was ok, nothing bad, nothing spectacular. however that image you posted, it looks low skill rotoscoped without being rotoscoped, so you are instead of comparing it to drawings, you are comparing it to real life and the flaws are amplifying themselves.
