You can also use a color checker for trad if you are working from life. Pic related, theres even 3d printed versions.
At no point will you not have access to the color dropper in digital so it is an essential tool that you should use for painting.
I don't think it replaces your color training for these reasons
>>6013739 and you should do exercises without using it to train yourself to color match without it because you don't always have good photo ref and photographs tend to have poor color. So you will need to "mix" your own colors with the hue/sat/value sliders.
But you WILL use the color dropper throughout your digital painting career to pick color directly from photographs or art to speed up your process.
