What changes to current western comics and cartoons should be made for making creator owned series with a variety of genres sold at a reasonable price the norm in the mainstream? Most people those days are complaining that Marvel/DC comics are stale as shit and both the art and writing have gone to shit, but I don't see anyone actively trying to shake up the situation. People could point at webcomics, but not much of them have reach real common knowledge during their days other than maybe Homestuck and online strips.

Also on the animation-side, why are cartoons like Avatar/Castlevania/DCAU still on the minority side when the critics seem to favor them over ugly ass adult comedy cartoons? I hope that at least Arcane has set the bar high, anime is currently getting shittier year by year.
