To the ones that are illustrators and have twitter, does more followers equal to guaranted work and money? If so how much would an artist general make at 1k, 10k, 50k and 100k follwers?

you can have 3k with nothing but commissioners and thrive, and you can have 20k who are nothing but third worlders who wont pay more than 5dollars for a work.

Skill has more to do with it than followers. I have fuck-all followers and can and have posted a comm sheet in discords and get a full queue, and I'm not even that good, I just offer good value. Followers is just a way to gauge demand, and not a very accurate one at that.

Your best bet is making a simple RPGmaker or a simple game and release it in dlsite. Thats what im doing right now.
Prioritize japanese translations. Japs are paypiggies since their purchasing power is strong and theres a resentment against piracy even if japs do it under the table.
I've seen bad games in dlsite with bad art. With good effort even substandard gameplay but alright CGs could fetch you 1k copies sold at 7$ not including DLsites cut

isn't it a shit rate? 1k copies are 7k profit (idk what is dl profit), and you have to make at least 3 characters, 3 scenes for them, animate, some bgs and half characters, program it, make a dialogue etc...

its just about getting eyes on your work. the more popular you are, the higher your chance of selling and finding work becomes.

but having a high follower account does not always mean the artist is making a lot of money, it all comes down to how they use their platform to find work and make money.

Not that anon, but there's a couple benefits like it can become a form of passive income and you don't have to deal with braindead clients 1 on 1 and have to do everything to custom order. You also get way more control over the product and still make some cash off of it. Basically it's less stress on yourself overall and you can ride on the profit for a bit afterwards. You can also use volume sales to your advantage and sell your gamu for like 6 dollars and still make decent money

No, it doesn’t matter. All you have to do to get SFW comms is join discords. I highly recommend joining some sort of community that’s lacking in available artist. Smaller youtubers, vidya games, and tv fan base servers all usually good bets for shilling.
