>>6003736Anon, back when I was in (a shitty) animation college, there were 4 important subjects:
- Drawing fundies;
- Animation 1;
- Animation 2;
- Character Design.
The "drawing fundies" classes were just a very rushed version of Loomis, same for everyone.
Animation 1 and 2 were given by 2 different teachers, to whom we were randomly assigned. We had teacher A who was shit and teacher B who was extremely experienced and skilled.
I was unlucky and had both Animation 1 and Animation 2 under the shitty, A professor.
Then, Character Design was only taught by teacher B, the veteran guy.
It was the only time I was under this teacher and on this short, limited-scoped subject, I learned more about drawing and animation from his little tidbits and feedback than on the other previous 3 subjects put together.
I am capable of discipline and self-study, but only when I have a clear direction. Which a competent mentor is capable of giving, whereas your gymrat talk of just do it, which we're all sick and tired of hearing, can't.
Pat yourself on the back for not being like me, but don't think a mentor is never the answer.
