Don't want to specify country, because there is
6 students (per class, from sculpting, painting, product design etc...) yearly accepted, some fail and classes are sub 5 people in size. Due to nepotism, sometimes 1-3 more. But generally hard to get in
if you don't have connections or aren't 'good'.
I am studying graphic design and it's a lot of work.
But keep in mind, in my country i pay 75$ yearly total (converted). And my dorm is around 100$.
Which is a lot by my standards but I wouldn't eat much better anyway.
To get to your point of 'is it worth it'. Heavily depends on what doctrine is dominating your school of choice. We do have freedom of expression AKA you can do your own style etc... But you WILL have to know fundamentals, anatomy, colour theory, the works.
We are still operating on the teachings of art ideals of ex socialist ideas. Realism is appreciated.
But remember, even the professors on uni told me this:
You can learn illustration and drawing by yourself, but
designing is a different thing. It's not just about taste,
but a lot of 'visual math' as my father would put it.
Understanding composition etc...
So yea, take what you will from this wall of text i typed out, and remember just draw.
