i would never consider it 'cheating' because who cares but i've never seen an ad for an artist that made me want to check out their work. i don't think it's worth spending money on and it could damage how people see you

Only you can see if you've paid for ads on instagram. It just looks like organic reach to everyone else.

Only when it’s “currently boosted”. After that it doesn’t fucking matter, just looks like a bunch of people found and liked your work.

That being said paying for ads is a scam and also destroys the egalitarian nature of sharing work online. It also just encourages these apps to become even more monetised. I still can’t believe Instagram added an entire “shop” button nobody clicks on. It’s a glorified online shopping app now.

ive done some digital marketing before and i don’t think it’s worth it for most artists who’s just looking into getting more followers
paid ads that have significant reach are expensive. like hundreds if not thousands of dollars expensive.
i’d say just grow your art account organically.
>post consistently (in terms of quality, frequency, maybe even topic/themes)
>Use captions strategically (to appear on search results, or to build your brand/engage with your audience)
>Use hashtags too. You don’t have to use so many (bc that can look annoying too) Either experiment or do a little research of which hashtags would be ideal
>follow art trends/make fanarts
>Make sure your art is actually gud
