get a quart of linseed oil, get a quart of turpenoid. these are your mediums, they thin and thicken the paint, makes it easier to use.
get the following colors
light yellow, dark yellow
crimson, iron oxide
ultramarine blue, pthalo blue
burnt umber, any white that isn't flake white
DO NOT GET WINSOR AND NEWTON.
brands like chroma archival, rgh, utretch are all fine and mid tier.
get synthetic flat brushes in varying sizes,
my go to is Blick Scholastic Golden Taklon. They are good, and cheap.
for canvas, buy something pretty big, like 36x48 or a few yards of prepared, unstretched canvas. and just work the hell out of it, go with whatever feels natural, then watch videos on exact processes, then go back to what feels natural until you develop your own techniques and methods.
theres no correct way to learn, but there are still ugly and non ugly ways to paint.
Pic related, been oil painting for a few years now.
good luck
