>>5989556It should be noted that don't actually know the answer to this for a very generalised project. I've been looking into molding/casting as a method for taking casts of the meat-skulls after I've skinned out an animal I'm taxidermying. The process is this: take a mold of the meat-skull. Cast the meat-skull. Take the cast and sculpt the features back onto it that were lost during the skinning (lips, eyelids) and then make another mold of the new sculpted head. Cast again with light-weight rigid foam, make last minute adjustments like setting eyes, cutting lip slots into the rigid foam, then mount the skin on the head. A three-part plaster of Paris mold can apparently be used to cast for the meat-skull, and then a silicone mold for the final head cast. Alternatively, you can use silicone for both casts, but it's more expensive. I've heard of people using straight silicone caulk, but recommended is apparently the Smooth-On range. I've also heard of candle wax and Vaseline being used instead of mold release, but mold release seems to be standard.
