I agree, it’s not good for some reason. It could be, possibly should be, but just isn’t. I don’t think he’s had his own personal breakthrough but he’s close.

While none of these drawings are "good" by any technical standard, they are all very appealing, soulful even. Your friend is definitely on the right track. I think his main issue (besides muh fundies) is that the lines look sorta messy.

It's the lines and shit rendering everywhere but the embroidery that ruin it for me. It looks careless and like he doesn't know what else to do in that department.
