People don't get mad at tracers because they do a better job or because it is tracing, they get mad because it is deceptive, a scam, a lie. You are lying, through omission or directly, trying to trick people you have way more skill than you have for the most futile reasons.
Art can look interesting, art can look good, but is so much more than just that, so much more than just the visuals, the money, the fame. Is about expression, is a path, a way of living, of achieving true ataraxia, of being yourself, of building worlds or simply giving meaning this stupid world, finding piece, love, everything.
And then, there are people like that, like you, that can only see the mundane, that corrupt something that is so precious for vanity and selfishness, you really don't get why people get so mad at it? If so, if you are an artist and can't even understand this much, I pity you, i sincerely do, no matter the amount of skill or proficiency you achieve, no matter how high and mighty the works of art you create can be, how much money you make, they will always be hollow, you never will achieve what really matters, always one step bellow, lost. How pitiful.
