What kind of tools do you use to help construct your worlds, cities, towns, etc.? How do you approach designing them? I keep worrying about whether the infrastructures will make sense.

I use american suburbia as an base since everybody in the fucking world recognizes and build from there adding characteristics of other cultures.

I really like Italian or Portuguese infrastructure because they kinda work with the terrain and you have those houses in straight streets going up and down hills, I wanted to add Russian interiors for a while with carpets on the wall but is hard to pull off.

For your main foundation make sure to use only elements that you're thoroughly acquainted with and build the rest upon that, adding researched details and light modifications. Travel to the locations, speak to an expert on the subject, some of the population to get the feel/atmosphere for it, take photos, draw, read.

Just learn about civil engineering urban design and architecture especially the vernacular it’s not some secret. For the most part you just have to creatively and intuitively devise solutions.
