>>59686061. Leave /asg/ and detach yourself from overseas anime artists right now
2. Indulge yourself solely in Japanese media, only reference off Japanese artists
3. Analyze very thoroughly what separates your work from your goals and what is missing
4. Heavily copy, but do original work instead of 1:1 study
Is it easy? No, as you have to rewire your entire mindset. There is no Loomis, Japanese artists don’t view art “logically”. Fundamentals are extremely important but aren’t everything. That’s one of the biggest mistakes of /ic/: reducing art to technical skill and forgetting emotion, appeal, mood, interaction with the viewer. Is it possible to achieve the quality and artstyle of Japanese artists if you grew up with Western media and a different mindset? Yes. However it’s incredibly difficult. Otherwise there wouldn’t be a plague of Western anime, with only 0.01% being able to pull it off.
