The problem is not moe itself, mind you, is what it did with the industry. Authors realized they could set back, do something simple and cute, add barely any story and conflict and people would it up, actually, it was more popular and had higher chances of succeeding then anything original. I read some original stuff here and there time to time, gets axed and I never hear of the author ever again while there 1000 isekais, jrpg inspired mangas out there basically telling the same story over and over again going strong with sales.
