Just on the chance that someone else could benefit from this.
I went from being able to barely see flash impressions of pictures in my head to being able to rotate things in 3D in my head.
I always had this theory that aphantasia wasn’t possible for someone who wasn’t blind, and thought of ways to cure it. For me, I thought each person must have something impeding the innate ability and wondered what it was, but before I could figure it out, I cured it on accident. This might not be the case for everyone but it’s worth sharing.
I gave myself a deep neck massage and stretch session, like really intense. Drive my thumb into my neck muscles and individually released the tension for awhile, this was in the context of also doing a good amount of stretching in general but after I got the tension out from the base of my skull and all of my neck, I found myself clear headed during my next meditation which I do about once a day, and then.. I could see pictures, that didn’t go away in an instant. They’re still not super crisp like I can see fine details but I can see strong shaped and colors of what I’m imagining and see it from different angles, assuming I’m also pretty relaxed and mindful.
So there; in my case some combination of releasing physical tension and mindfulness has had a staggering effect on my ability to imagine and manipulate images in my minds eye. There is hope, good luck
