one converts it through the color’s luminosity, the other by desaturating the colors through the hsv model
the entire point is that that hue, saturation and value are interconnected, and value cannot be accurate without the other two being accurate, as demonstrated by the values being completely wrong by changing the saturation, further demonstrated by the need to turn to luminosity to avoid this
