The stick figures are perfect for fundamentals because they're crafted out of ultra simple figures.

Boxes are amazing tools to draw. You should just be drawing hundreds of them. They're fun. Learning is actually incredibly fun. Figure drawing becomes fun once you get your fundamentals down.
The comic is cute but clearly ultra amateurish. But you seem like the type to take in the information you're given, so that's why I'm telling you this. it's good ultra early information.
The way to learn is to copy during your studies. After the fundies, just find all the cool art you like and copy it for study purposes. It helps. Good luck.
