>>5946173I've gotten pretty good pics from pixiv artists for 3000 and 5000 yen. Some of them look like they have 30 hours put into them. These guys are hobbyists looking for suggestions for the most part. Paying a small fee filters out the most frivolous suggestions and is probably more flattering that someone was willing to pay something, but nonetheless, they would have been making like 100-300 yen per hours on it. One time I got a CG set with 12 pictures for 6000 yen. I honestly feel bad about it, although he really didn't have to accept the request if he didn't want to do it.
I also draw although I'm not at all skilled, but it's enough for me to appreciate that I've gotten insanely good deals.
Drawing is because we enjoy drawing or we have something we really want to make. Commissions are because we just want an end product, and we don't necessarily even want to control every aspect of it. The anticipation makes it a little easier to get up in the morning. It's fun to see what the artist will come up with.
