Will this method really help me draw better?
There are no real rules about how to place lines, I think the grid method is better.

Yes. You're improving your observation, and only that. However you got all the angles and distances wrong. That's why it looks fucked up.

It’s ok but I don’t know if there’s some set rule on that shit. Like I’ll do similar stuff but with the seven heads rule in mind. Pic related was constructed using a similar approach.

Honestly seems like a waste of time to try doing constantly. It’s like a fun exercise to think about proportions and movement through space and stuff but idk. Doesn’t seem like stuff you can’t just eyeball after a whale

Decent method to improve your accuracy and observation skills. Very limited as it doesn't help you learn to construct forms so you can draw things from different angles and positions. Grid method is pretty much the same thing but even more limited and stiff. Also your attempt sucks so do it properly or you won't improve.

I mean hes trying to draw full figures with 18 straight lines specific to the drawing as a guideline. That's a setup for failure. Grids are best used with a constructed mannikin so he wont become a ref monkeycopyer like tracepr1nz

Grids are training wheels you use to develop accuracy and observation skills. Over time you can use fewer and fewer grids until you don't need one at all. Of course this takes a lot of time and effort. Many get stuck in the trap of always using grids. Pros will still use grids to transfer a drawing or scale it up, just because it's faster and they don't need the practice as they already have the skills.

You don't improve by doing the krenz exercise alone. You improve because due to the krenz exercise you can now learn perspective properly. And when you understand perspective you unlock the secret to drawing and see just how disgustingly dumb the average ic posters are.
