Is it a weird workflow to sketch traditionally, scan the sketch, and paint over it digitally?

I can't sketch digitally, I have some kind of mental block. I can't visualize at all if I'm drawing digitally. My hand movements are also very different and much worse when I try to draw in my iPad. I like to paint digitally though
