Nobody there is qualified to teach unless the class is in collaboration with class101 themselves. Naturally the production value would be higher than applied creators.
They scout randoms from instagram who have a lot of followers and offer them a chance to teach on their platform. They do this because they need new customers and use whoever they find to achieve that. As a result, the instagram artists they bring over are given the exact same template to follow built around fluff: "app settings, brushes, anatomy, how to breathe, how to think" when the course title would say something like "how to paint vibrant anime characters that spring from life!!".
The would be customer who was recommend to the site would see the course title and think it's all about color theory. Then they go in and the "teacher" is teaching a bunch of irrelevant shit unrelated to what you bought the course for because everyone who isn't in collaboration is following a teachers template. The would be customer is also tricked, by design and through deception, by the course reviews. Reviews are made by early supporters and almost always never by students. Once the customer realizes this and is unhappy they're unable to get a refund because the fluff the artist taught them went over their view percentage according to the terms of service.
So the customer interested in the course never really can tell if it's a student or a rabid instagram fan of the artist. Class101 is good if you're an /int/ level artist and want to see other /int/ level artists workflow. But don't expect to actually find some gem that will magically transform you out of /beg/.
