Why are some normalfags fine with this sort of art style and similar (Avatar, etc.) but pretty much don't care or outright dislike actual japanese anime art styles?

Because those look like adult Humans instead of prepubescent alien creatures. Most people will accept the latter in a comedy or children's show, but when you try to slap a "serious" story or adult content onto it, it becomes grotesque. You need a more mature art direction for that kind of material.

Over simplification usually and "look at me I'm a weeb." styles are just trash.

Actual Japanese manga styles etc that are worthwhile are just unheard of due to the lack of popularity for certain series in the west, compare how many people know about the (year) current Shounen Jump brand vs say JoJo, Baki etc.
