I have one, as well as a Cintiq and an Intuos 5 (my previous tablet). I like the iPad pro for all the bells and whistles, but after drawing on Wacom tablets for almost 2 decades I just can't get used to it. Love the lack of parallax, build quality of the tech, etc. That's all great. I just prefer the way art tablet pens feel.

Because Apple products are overly priced, purposely made fragile, and are dumbed down/limited so grandma doesn't have to worry about being hacked or whatever because she gave her passwords to a Nigerian king.
No point in having a portable drawing tablet if I have to be super delicate with it all the time because if I drop it two feet once the screen will crack.

I got a a used iPad Air 2 from my wife's friend and it is the most useless piece of shit for art on the face of the planet. There are no alternative drawing pencils for the fucking unit.

All I do is read art books via Samba with it and use it for reference sometimes.

Otherwise, if I had paid for one, I would have rather got a comparable Android tablet so I could at least run any fucking file type I want --> Looking at you Apple, why the fuck can't I run every single video type there is: This makes watching art courses on it a fucking roll of the die.

Worst devices ever. Just use a touchscreen based Thinkpad instead for chill casual art use.

I could have afforded a 12.9 but I’m a fucking stupid idiot and for soMe ReaSOn I bought 2 smaller iPads and an s-pen Samsung. Can’t complain about the smaller ipad though; it’s my fave out of the three

on the contrary i used to LOVE my samsung note 10.1 2014, Used that shit for yeeeaarrrs. I ended up getting a newer tab A in the photo but the software failed me. When it came time to move over my drawings to the newer tablet i learned there really wasnt an easy way. I wasted a week of my life learning how to root and learn stupid bootloader stuff just to transfer drawings over. at the end of it all I was just sick of it and that's why I ordered an iPad. Drawing wise -- samsung ain't bad though good luck migrating stuff over to a new tablet when the time comes.

what drawing software did you use and how did you transfer them?
I just use layerpaint hd, exports to png or its own project file, and it's as easy as transferring any other kind of files; I also used the 2014 10.1, have transferred files into a Tab S3 and a Tab S7 FE now, no problems

lucky you. I was using sketchbook and I dont think there was too much of an issue but I do remember it was cumbersome to transfer. The main issue was manganame by mediabang. I poured practically a Bjillion hours into that app because it was a no frills drawing app; it had like 4 colors and no layers and ran with like zero latency on an old tablet but I loved it because I was able to get what was in my mind onto manganame pretty quickly. with that said I ended up having to root the damn android tablet because manganame did not place nice at all for transferring. In the end i just screenshotted all my drawing and now they live in a folder in my ipad as seperate png's.

now that I use procreate it's been much easier to transfer stuff. and when I do upgrade to a nicer iPad I can migrate the whole ipad over with itunes.

I'm not knocking Samsung tablet hardware at all btw. I do like S-Pen over apple pencil. It was nice just picking up the S-pen and not having to worry if I forgot to charge it. also pic related was the absolute most comfy drawing stylus I have ever used. God i miss that pen

Unlike a A4 paper, 85% of your strokes are made in the center of your screen rather than the entire sheet of paper. Better is literally better for screened devices.

Went from screenless chink some 6 years ago to screenless wacom to ipad a year ago. For me it's a lot more fun with a screen and I like that it's portable. But I am just as shit as I was with screenless. 0 difference. Maybe linework is a little faster and smoother now and I love sketching a lot more than before.

I bought one for traveling, wrote it off on my taxes and haven't used it much. Still use my 500 dollar 24 inch XP pen instead

Pro tip for any anons who want one. You can write one off super easy. Doesn't even matter if you're a cashier.
