i suggest picking up a few artbooks and tutorials on coloring & rendering first, especially ones geared towards digital artists

Not good and also soulless. This should be worrying to you. I think you should try to draw in a more naïve childish way and see what works then you try to improve upon that with construction and anatomy. Because trying to become good when you do not understand what makes soul puts you in a place where you just stagnate with ugly unappealing work even if you do "improve".

I know it's not a perfect work of art obviously. But the flaws are lighting, there's no atmosphere, i think maybe some anatomy mistakes but whatever not like i'm drawing a real life figure over here. The axe would look better if it was in frame so i guess the composition is bad.

Yes anon, it's obviously not perfect but as long as you keep drawing you will keep improving!
I recommend practicing your rendering a bit more, do not limit yourself to a polished style where you render everything individually.
Also if the axe is bright red and glowing, it should also reflect a reddish hue onto the character.
