Is really common past 50's for whatever reason, you can see how many sub-cultures and groups have fallen of this evil, from punks, goths to nerd and geek culture, otaku culture and so on. Is quite the evil, but nothing new, if you study esoteric stuff like occultism or something around this lines you realize a lot of the teaching are basically hidden away and there so many warning telling people not to overshare and keep it a secret because normies ruin everything, that shit from shit thousand of years old. So yeah, there is at least something in it since is that old.
