>>5935196Hyperrealism is the peak of redundancy. They take photos so that they can copy them, by hand, to make a drawing of a photograph that is as indistinguishable from the original as possible. So, in other words, a really inefficient xerox machine.
Now, some hyperrealists actually do a little more than that, like that Jono Dry dude who takes multiple photo references and makes a single composition out of them (see picrelated). However, yet again, this is extremely redundant because anyone decently skilled in photo editing software could bang out a photo shop like that in, what, a few hours?
People might sneer at realism, but at least in realism the artist is making some kind of artistic interpretation of reality, filtered through their perception of the world using observation alone. Photorealism is just brainless copying. Lots of effort, but low skill , and zero artistic value.
The only people who are impressed by that are ignoramuses, but even then the admiration is still very shallow and brief. They'll go "woooow how can a person like draw so realistically that's like insaaaane wow that's cool :0", leave an upvote on Reddit, and then they'll walk away and forget about it within five minutes.
