>>5931700I get this sometimes when varnishing my pictures, especially using Gamvar, Since I nearly always use Gamvar, I don't know if it's more prevalent with this.
Anyway, it seems to be related to paintings that have dark areas of paint, and /or have have layers of paint that have dried in between.
Solution; Either breathe onto the areas that are resisting the varnish, and keep scrubbing the varnish on. You should know that Gamvar is meant to be applied very thinly and scrubbed on, but I'm reiterating in case.
If breathing on the paint before quickly getting the varnish on doesn't work either, try wiping the area with a TINY amount of solvent, turps is best, or white spirits. Just the tiniest bit. Just dab at it lightly. You need to try a very small area with a cotton wool bud head to check you're not about to R.I.P. your painting.
I have this every week or so. The breathing usually works anyway.
tl:dr Don't be lazy and read it.
