>>5924671Western cartoons (Disney, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, etc...) are all about making things aesthetically pleasing, just not in the same way as eastern animation.
Design and appeal come in all different flavors and to say one is aesthetically pleasing over the other seems like personal feeling.
Furry in general has roots in anime, just that it might have started in the west. Maybe that's why it appeals to you.
>>Its why "furry" movies like zootopia are widely considered the best animated and nicest looking movies. Those furry movies are not good because they have anthropomorphic animals in them, it's because they're made by skilled artists in large studios. Disney, Pixar, Sony, etc... make some of the best animated movies of all time that are not furry movies.
The main difference I think is the style of storytelling and animation technique. Although, the west has been learning from anime since the 80s and using their tricks to speed up production.
The performance is really different as well. Western animation loves to milk the subtle, "complex" type of acting. Anime is about saying a lot with one frame, using sound (vocal sounds, sfx) to complement the mood, and simplifying poses.
Of course it's not black and white, it's definitely on a spectrum. I've seen anime that almost felt like western animation and vice versa (in everything I described above).
