If you don’t want to render, you don’t have to, just spend that time drawing more or making better lineart.

I like rendering, it’s braindead butalso it’s relaxing. It’s satisfying seeing the image come together.

I feel like if I spend too much time rendering, I forget how to draw. So, I am trying to make my rendering more stylized to make it quicker. Whereas, in the past I would spend several days just rendering a person from imagination to make it very realistic.

I feel like linework alone is 1-3 hours for me, coloring flats is quick, rendering can be 2 hours, but still, how the fuck do i bring it down to 15+40 like you?

I started out drawing, I learned perspective and trust my intuition more. It got faster overtime, Im still new to painting and rendering however. It's like going back to square one again, you cant really hammer all rendering concept and practiced in your mind all at once, so it cant be helped

I absolutely hate drawing and I love the cosmic shit out of rendering, will draw for 10 minutes and render for over 9000 hours if I can. Drawing just takes it toll on me whilst rendering is the most relaxing and fun activity that I know. Although rendering is half-drawing because what it is is defining the forms and drawing textures.

Honestly I hate rendering but this image alone makes me want to be halfway decent at it.
Not sure why either, but I love this image for some reason. I think it's all the glass, it just looks lovely.

But currently focusing on drawing still since my base skills are lacking.

Also its blue, people love the cosmic shit out of entirely blue and entirely red paintings, which is why the sell for 20% more money in auctions. I overuse green a lot in my paintings, trying to get into the habit of using blue and red more.

By "rendering", what exactly are you guys referring to? Everything other than the contour drawing? As in, value composition, colour composition, volumetric shading, atmospheric perspective, texture representation, light effects, brushwork, etc? If so, by that one term you're basically referring to >95% of what art actually is.

Rendering as in by the definition from Scott robertson book "how to render" which is what almost everyone use. If you mean painting then that work too, but you don't paint with a pencil. You can just say drawing too, but people say rendering to identify a specific process.
