Is paper mache a dead art?
I remember it being taugh in school but Ive never heard of anyone later training in it.

Don't do it OP. It SUCKS!!!!
I work on paper mache for four days each week. I get lots of commissions for $10 a shot but nobody seems to like my work. It takes me hours to sculpt and hours to paint them. maybe I should stop using just primary colors? Every customer gives my work to their kids and won't even let them look at it. Ever see a customer's kid approach your work only after putting on a blindfold? And then.... (sob)... beat the shit out of it with a stick!?!?!?!?
I want to kms most days.

Was 14 back then, sorry. But still, I don't see your point: a lot of questions here could be answered with a few google searches, something I knew how to do when I was 14; Internet was still too expensive when I was 12 IIRC.

That's cool it sounds like a trade that will keep you in business but I think i'd go crazy doing all that. If you're skilled at it why not charge more and do more detailed designs? People do it with cakes, which just get eaten, so why not with a pinata? Both have part of the fun (and expense) be because they're temporary.
