>>5913082You can draw inspiration from anywhere, things you've experienced, thoughts you've had, dreams you've dreamt...
I think it's the most fun when you just draw stuff you enjoy looking at yourself, e.g. if you like watching birds, reading power-fantasy and stargazing you can draw mighty birds in space or whatever fun associations you can come up with.
Ideas aren't about inventing stuff out of nothing but more like coming up with a new cooking recipe.
You just mix and mash whatever you find until you've created a new experience.
Just remember to not cringe at your ideas, but to explore them freely so that you'll have a lot to pick from when it comes to finalising your ideas.
>instead of just copying You should copy ideas too though; just not everything from one source, but small elements from a lot of different sources, like copying the lineart and proportions of three renaissance artists, while stealing the colour scheme of a sea slug, whatever comes to mind.
