Hello, I have this idea for a kind of /lit/ /ic/ hybrid personal project. I want to write a small text, poem, historical fact or made up fact on one page of a notebook and illustrate that page on the other page.

I am looking for inspiration about the illustration style. I am attracted to simple, flat and expressive colors as well as gravure style illustrations. I basically want to find a style of illustration that is expressive, simple enough that it leaves some room for imagination, but with depth as well. I'll post some art I found online that roughy shows what I'm talking about.
