>>5923800I dont want to go in circles with this discussion, but I like the specific answer.
in vanilla krita swapping to previous preset with / does respect the changes you made to the preset, like size and opacity.
if you turn on "temporarily save preset modification" it will respect the changes to all presets during the session, no matter how you swap them. you can of course set a shortcut to reset the brush to default too.
also, say you set e to a specific eraser, you can swap it really fast if you get the tenkeys menu to a shortcut, so swapping what's on your eraser slot is almost as fast as picking it from the selector.
with plugins like buli switch or threeslots, this is a non issue because it also respects the changes.
personally just swapping my last two persets with / serves most of my needs, not evrn limited to erasers. there is a point when painting and drawing when errasing is not even needed anymore and swapping between hard and soft brush, or blend and marker is more useful. and using shortcuts and tags for commonly used presets and workflows covers a lot.
as you said it's a question of getting used to. I'm just confused on why its such a big deal for many. This is my primary concern, since it just seems like a silly excuse to shit on krita because every software has it jank. as I said, photoshop doesnt even have a colorwheel.
