I don't understand how to approach portrait studies. I feel like I'm just pinning features on a mr potatohead.
I've done a shit ton of skull studies (I don't have any issues studying the skull btw) and that helped me with drawing heads from imagination, but not my studies. Right now I'm just drawing parts of the head in isolation.
How do you approach portrait studies? Any tips? Videos of artists doing portrait studies?
