What your opinion on inking with flat lines and then erasing to make it look good?

Use a high resolution and a very small brush, go over parts of the line that need extra thickness, you’ll get much cleaner lines that way.

But you can modify the thickness of existing lines in CSP, there's no need to make such effort.

I do that traditionally

construction lines
erase 80%
redraw on top
erase 60%
redraw on top

repeat until satisfied
