There are works that come off a more polished
more professional, but there's no "personality"
to it, only a high skill level. There are other
works that might not be that polished or the
artist might not be at a high level of skill but the artwork still feels like there was someone with
a particular character behind it.
Your Picrel is a GREAT EXAMPLE of an artist
with a ton of Soul, he may lack a bit in his
directorial skills but there was clearly a lot of
his personality and taste imbued in his movies
the newer Corporate-made movies of his saga
lack that "Soul" they are vehicles for the suits
to mark checkboxes and claim to be good
people according to their artificial value system
of "Diversity" and "Inclusion" with a shit ton of
movie invested in big visual effects, safe bets
for the studio, it already was a big name saga
it's obviously gonna make a shit ton of money...
In the end, those new movies are on the
surface competently filmed and paced and too
competently acted, but lack any real character
beneath, something the other two trilogies had
in abundance.
