Doesn’t matter. Good is relative. And good is normative. You don’t make innovative or experimental or outlier art without novelty and individuality. People that buy art for reasons other than jerking off to anime children or moving money don’t care if you’re good because that’s normative. Anyone can be good. Not everyone can be good and crazy and obsessive. Or even be able to create the appearance that they are. Art became about the artist 150 years ago and if you’re not thinking about what you’re doing in terms of a broader artistic goal and learning path you’re just sitting around doodling. People like lore and bullshit with fine art. Having a bunch of art theory shit and history for art nerds to talk while holding fancy wine cups is where the perceived value of doing this shit from the artists POV. I’ve spiraled out into an entirely novel aesthetic theory and documented the entire process and captured it all across a bunch of stupid pictures of memes. Plus I can always package something as 30 minute short film, 90 minute film, and go do a circlejerk run through the film festival circuit promoting this shit and probably sell the movie about making it for a fair amount. Doesn’t need to be good it just needs to have interesting reasons why it’s weird and people will sucks it dick after you kill yourself.
