And it’s less an issue of using their image and more an issue of using the copyright holders image. Like pic related is an image owned by the hot ones LLC. Shaq is not getting fucked and has no legal recourse really if he didn’t like my picture. He’s a public figure, and not knowingly maligning him, he doesn’t own the media of him I used as a reference, etc.
And the hot ones producers don’t really give a shit if I ever sell something with pic related at a comic con or whatever. If I sold like a print to money launderers for $100,000,000 they might be interested but they aren’t going to crack down because I drew their ip and transformed the image and made a few hundred bucks off it.
