ARTISTS CHADS How do i make my art profitable?
I've been an artist for a while, but the algorithm in social media is exhausting and I've never really knew how to make my art stand up. I don't consider my art bad, I can always still improve tho. I have been studying and practicing art 10 years by far and I'm in real need to get money now.

I'm searching for websites were I can publicite my art and get a contract or even try custom comissions get some real cash.
Do you guys have any advices?
What types of websites are the best?

I see filipino teens getting commissions on reddit to draw random people's oc. I don't know man, try that. You pirate art books and bitch about twitter and reddit on /ic/, but you get commisions off talentless moneybags that are in on trendy media fandoms.

I'm getting commissioned through Pixiv and DeviantArt. Been drawing for 9 months now. Pick a fetish you like to draw, use appropriate tags and the audience who share the fetish will quickly pick you up and start commissioning you.

How do I post the tags in Pixiv? It needs to be in Japanese or English work fine as well?

Well it is japanese site and even i as western know to search for the jap tags because there's more art behind them than english tags. When uploading a work, open a second tab for Pixiv. Then search your sought tags in english and the related tags will most likely show the jap tag too. Copy/paste that to your work's tags. Nothing wrong with using both English and Japanese tags but you can only add 10 tags so make them count.

Until you have a few thousands followers you have to aggressively shill yourself and go look for customers. You could be the best artist ever, unless they know you exist and how to find you you won't sell shit. Take that guy, he's clearly competent and I could see people paying a solid 80 for his work, but his username is illegible so he has 60 followers and most of them are other d/ic/ks.

Go post random fanart on Reddit, discord, or those fandom apps, and mention you're available for commissions, pin your price sheet on top of your twitter and post things that will make people want to check you out.

Being good with a pencil helps but in the end "Making it"© is all about marketing and community management.

Ok now pyw that is your favorite work. What are you proud of? Give us a idea of what you're passionate about so we can see what field of art you fit best.

You don't HAVE to do porn just because you can draw cute animal girls. There are commission websites, forums, and apps for book illustrations, small comic book/ webcomics for people who can write but can't draw, OCs. On Etsy there is really expensive home decor, pet, and self portrait art. If you're damn good with story telling making a webcomic will give you a niche area to fill since good artists are honestly rare and stand out.
