Was that a soft round brush?
3 Based on what did he choose those colors?
Like everything in art, it's all esoteric stuff left to someone's own interpretation, and when that interpretation is "wrong" (not really wrong but a choice, again this is not science sadly) you get horrible results and thus begs.
