The idea that your tools / brush type don't matter is bullshit. The artist must love what each stroke from their implement looks like. Only then will good ideas flow from your mind. If you constantly are thinking "ew this hard round looks so beg" then you will never be able to enjoy drawing enough to improve and you will likely not get good ideas either.
